Here in Canada, the goverment does take from the poor, they nailed me last year when I went to school, I had to pay in $1200 and my girl over $600 because I went to school on a grant that gave me $14000, plus I lost over $300 per month in child tax credit, and I paying back $4000 as a student load. Without the school income we only had $12000income. Canada likes to take always, and I'm still not finished school!

Blaming the poor for being poor seems a bit trite but as you say you decided to make 20k a year so maybe you assume the others do also. I doubt most people choose poverty just as most do not choose to pay taxes. Corporations are deserving to pay the bulk and in my opinion anyone making obscene amounts of cash should pay 50% and higher. Just what is defined as an "obscene amount"will take like 1000 years of political infighting, back stabbing and at least a a small battalion of Lobbyists to battle it out. I would say that any person earning millions a year to decide what a dollar is worth is suspect as well as fat cat bankers that greedily take Obama's blood offering. Then TV host like Limbaugh and comedians getting millions to change time slots are right behind.

When the time comes don't be surprised to see the old saying "Eat the Rich" come back into vogue. There will be a New World Order, the question is which version. I laugh when I read posts that don't answer questions and parade facts like rubber ducks in a wading pool!

People working 40+ hours a week are far less likely to coax Washington into special favors while the wealthy elite are constantly trying to avoid their own taxes. Go ahead and justify poverty but try and keep on topic.

Funny thing is, if we were a true Republic, most would prosper. The powerful government you want got us in this mess in the first place. No, I really dont pay that much in taxes and I get almost 50% back when I file. The MEGA rich don't feel a thing but what about small business owners and the Joe Stack's of the world.

This next thought is a generalisation and directed at the Bahbs of this world. If you believe there is no higher power and put your faith in Darwin, why do you set out to protect the weak? Is it for power? I can't do a bank run, great idea, because I do not do business with banks.

Everyone pays taxes, even if you don't think you are. Even if you get back all the income tax that was taken away from you during the year, you are still paying tax on your cigarettes, the gas in your car, and in property tax (which is rolled into the amount you pay for rent, if you don't own your home). They "get" you with everything... When was the last time you looked at your phone bill or renewed your license plate? Don't you buy shoes, shampoo, and concert tickets?

There will always be a lower class. We do not live in a society where people trade in raw materials and basic foods. Instead, we have an entire society based on value-added goods; indeed, the entire planet functions on the circulation of value-added goods. Someone has to be on the bottom in order to start the circulation.
