Apathy and Indecision for the British people

This evening a friend took me out for dinner and the men arrived towards the end of the evening.
Amongst the people there were business owners that included a managing director of a marketing company and roofing company. Police detectives, a retired business owner of a technology/management recruitment agency. An ex-union representative of the Post Office union retired and now working for a carpet retailer. A business owner that is also a bed retailer. People from the leisure industry and myself. People from all walks of life and backgrounds.
It seems there is no agreement on who people will vote for. Some were in apathy that their vote will create any real positive change and others just do not know what to do for the best.
None of the prospective leaders presented to the British people appear to resonate with their hearts and this is causing indecision.
Two names were mentioned and that was BNP and UKIP by two of the drinkers in the group.
The possibility of a hung parliament wasn't discussed. However, what was discussed by the various groups was that everyone is tired of the bureaucracy hindering their jobs. The police officers were particularly concerned of how people are employed due to their academic qualifications instead of their ability to connect with the street.
Our police force shared openly about their feelings and how they do their best to protect their people. However, when told their wages are paid by the people and will they be willing to defend the people against the government there was no response.
This is a big dilemma now for the police force of England because most of the old school came from the street to defend the people from the less good. They have the ability to connect and sort out the local criminals but the new breed of academics do not have the same intuition and street cred.
Some of business owners were upset that they had paid for private education (and nursery) and now there is no jobs for their children. Nor are they able to claim a benefit even though they have paid huge taxes during their life times, without taking anything from it. There has been no benefit to their children as far as jobs and careers are concerned.
Rich or poor, educated or uneducated, all are in the same boat.
No jobs for the children.
One director was very concerned of what is happening to the older generation and what she has seen doing voluntary work with 'Meals on Wheels'. The lack of support for the OAP's of ill health was beyond measure after lives of paying taxes.
People are not happy in the UK about what they are being offered.

Rich or poor. educated or uneducated, all are in the same boat.
Ahh... So now, whether they sink or swim is dependent on their own merits instead of how much "education" daddy could afford?
I like it!

Ah you know what they say about walking in a person mocassins.
This working family adopted a child with learning difficulties and gave him the best opportunities in life that they could. Yet you stand in judgement of them without even knowing their life story.
How amazing you are to think that every small business owner was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Not so, dear one. Many people have worked very hard indeed in their lives to benefit others. This child did benefit from parents that gave him a secure non-violent home with lots of love and everything that any child could wish for. I am not saying that I would have done what they have done. However, I cannot fault them for trying to do their best for the child.

You didn't say anything about a specific child, you told the story using generalizations and I replied in kind.
