On Dec. 21, 2012, some fear that a rogue planet will collide with Earth and destroy the planet, or that the supposed end of the Mayan calendar will lead to the obliteration of the universe.
When people have questions about these scenarios, they often turn to the Internet.
NASA astrobiologist David Morrison has taken it upon himself to enter that online conversation and answer hundreds of questions about the science of existential threats.
On NASA's Q&A site Ask an Astrobiologist, Morrison debunks and details the origins of popular apocalyptic scenarios and thoughtfully responds to questions about potential doom.

What a day job, answering questions about doomsday lol.
But why do people associate the word "apocalypse" with doom? end times? etc?
I thought it just meant revealing?

Мое сердце, мой спаситель, да будет свет.

Мое сердце, мой спаситель, да будет свет.

I listened to this guy and he said "The mayan calender does not end in 2012 i already go my copy of for 2013"
Obviously he places some relevance on the calender.
When i listen to the 'Debunkers of Doom'
considering the same set of notions.
How is it that an ancient people could have calculated the astronomical movements?
It couldnit have been from observation since that would mean they lived for 26000 years and passed down the knowledge.
Perhaps they only watched a portion of the movements?...really?....How many thousands of years would it take to observe the stars until they would be able to predict its future with such astounding accuracy?
The very stellar event which they predicted which they knew had been before and would be again.
A time marked in the stars, from the viewpoint of earth.
Perhaps its a message to us that says.
Hey this happened before and its happening again...so watch out!!
Also whenever this talks he always says that he is convincing people not to commit suicide!!
Whats up with that?

I am not now, nor have I ever been an oil trader, and neither has anyone on my behalf. I have never seen a barrel of oil, owned one, bought one, sold one, and neither has anyone on my behalf.

Your facetious nature is showing.
Rest assured, you will have the opportunity to meet God soon enough.

He'll only answer if the question is a serious one and not answered previously. Good luck.
May I suggest using 'spell check' before you send him an email.
