Men sprawled on a tile floor, shirtless and convulsing. Children, too, seemingly unable to control their shaking and flailing. Panic and screams in the background.

These are some of the hard-to-stomach images that the Obama administration has shown a select group of senators in closed-door briefings to make the case that a limited military attack on Syria is justified, CNN reported on Saturday.

CNN has obtained 13 different videos that the administration has told the Senate Intelligence Committee depict the gruesome scene of a chemical weapons attack in Syria on August 21.

Earlier on Saturday, US Secretary of State John Kerry said in a joint press conference with his French counterpart, ‘‘this is not the time to be silent spectators to slaughter’’ adding that ‘‘this is not the time to allow a dictator unfettered use of some of the heinous weapons on earth.’’

"There is wide and growing support," Laurent Fabius told reporters in Paris. "Right now, seven of the eight countries in the G8 share our opinion on a strong reaction and 12 countries of the G20 also share this opinion."

Kerry added that many countries were prepared to take part in US-led military strikes against the Syrian regime.

"There are a number of countries, in the double digits, who are prepared to take military action," Kerry said.

"We have more countries prepared to take military action than we actually could use in the kind of military action being contemplated."

President Barack Obama also addressed the Syrian crisis in a radio address to the nation arguing that America needs to use limited military force in Syria to deter future chemical weapons attacks, but said he did not want to enter into another costly and protracted war.

"This would not be another Iraq or Afghanistan," Obama said in his weekly radio and internet address, previewing arguments he will make in a nationally televised address on Tuesday.

"Any action we take would be limited, both in time and scope - designed to deter the Syrian government from gassing its own people again and degrade its ability to do so," Obama said.
.
Obama has asked the US Congress to approve the use of force. A final vote in the US Senate is expected at the end of the coming week. A US House vote is likely the week of Sept. 16.

Obama will give interviews on Monday to the three network news anchors, as well as to anchors from PBS, CNN, and Fox, more evidence of a "full court press" strategy ahead of pivotal congressional votes on military strikes in Syria.

The interviews will be taped on Monday afternoon and will air during each network's Monday evening news broadcast, the White House said.

The mighty Abbott is at the controls now he in Australia even if we have a fake representative government
it's still good that he's here now with some sensibilities.

I implore all to let reason be your guide. If there exists such a smoking gun, then why the need for swift action to punish before the evidence can be verified? Why should any "smoking gun" evidence be withheld from the people who are the constituents this government is protecting and fighting for? If you were Assad, would you make such a blatant error at such a moment as is being presented? If you were Assad, would you invite total annihilation at a whim? Assad may be called a lot of things but do you really believe him to be so mentally deficient? Search your own intellectual prowess for the answers to these questions and and get back to me! :bang;

As to the "smoking gun" evidence, try this on for size!

Alan Grayson is saying what he heard in classified briefings is cooked up evidence that has been spun to make a case against Assad’s government in their alleged use of Chemical weapons. Grayson went on to decry the secrecy culture in Washington where even congressmen don’t get clear information from the government.

Thanks for the link, it has some juicy info from an insider:

Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., who is aggressively lobbying against a military strike on Syria, says the Obama administration has manipulated intelligence to push its case for U.S. involvement in the country's two-year civil war.

Grayson made the accusation in an interview published Wednesday by The Atlantic and offered more detail in a Thursday discussion with U.S. News. He says members of Congress are being given intelligence briefings without any evidence to support administration claims that Syrian leader Bashar Assad ordered the use of chemical weapons.

Grayson said he cannot discuss the classified briefings, but noted details in the administration's public, non-classified report are being contested.

Pathetic effords, why don't they show, along with this, videos and pictures of the victims of nuclear bombs, napalm, agent orange, phosphorus and so on, so there also can be a swift action (paid by the saudis of course) against the countrie(s) who did this?

There comes a time in the life of a pathological liar that he/she is alone, nobody beliefs him/her anymore.
That's what happening, there is no overwhelming support for action, not even close, not at home, not abroad.

Then, no matter what, it's against international laws, Assad will have the right to counter attack and because of treaties with Iran, this could also justify actions of Iran.
Any victims caused by the VS action, civilians and military, are victims of war.
