An Australian mining tycoon has released plans for a 'Titanic II' – and this time the ship will come with a safety deck and "proper life boats".
Clive Palmer, an Australian businessman known for his wild outbursts and a fondness for the media spotlight, on Tuesday, released the plans for the ship which is due to set out on its first voyage in 2016.
The upper decks will feature the public rooms, passenger stairs, cabins and features of the original, according to designs by Deltamarin, a Finnish-based engineering firm.
Mr Palmer said he was hoping to charge passengers less than the cost of a first-class journey on the original Titanic, which would be about £50,000 today.
"I'm sure we can do better than that," he said. "But [if not] go third class, that's where I'll be – that's where the fun will be."
Mr Palmer said Titanic II would include safety chutes and slides on an extra "safety deck" to make it compliant with modern regulations.
"This is to ensure the vessel is fully compliant with the current regulations which require passenger ships to, as much as possible and practicable, keep the distance from the lifeboat launching area to the waterline as low as possible," he said.
Mr Palmer announced the ambitious proposal for the ship in April to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the ill-fated voyage of the original Titanic.
The drawings show nine decks complete with first, second and third class, officer and crew accommodation. Though the plans have not yet been finalised, the ship is due to be built by Chinese shipbuilders CSC Jinling Shipyards.
Mr Palmer said the ship will include a casino but pensioners will be barred because he does not want to tempt people who cannot afford to gamble.
"There will be some sort of screening to make sure people who do go there can afford to," he said.
Passengers in third-class may also be barred from the casino, he said.

the titanic became iconic because it sank ,this will be just another boat ,but with free publicity
