Go see the movie.
Find a 3d Theatre.My take:
Hands DOWN the best special effects (on the whole) of
any movie made up to this point.
The bar has just been set much higher..and Diva actors/actresses have been served their warning.
The story is good (marginally preachy but you wont notice),
but trust me, becomes secondary to how this movie
looks.
I was in absolute astonishment the entire time...as was the entire packed house.
Matter of fact, it was almost dead silent when the movie ended.i think thats how deep people were in..it truly takes you...AWAY.
No, i mean they REALLY nailed it with this setup.
Five minutes in, and i had forgotten i was wearing glasses,
or that these were special effects.
The suspension of disbelief is complete and immediate.
The glasses are the grey kind (not the red green kind)
and don't interfere with the movie in any way...nor does it cause the headaches that the old style 3d did. (although you cannot watch it without them)
The sense of scale now possible to employ will keep your eyes busy for most of the movie. Being digital, and although atmospheric perspective is used..youll notice that you can clearly see details in the periphery at all times, and you WILL be astonished at the sense of scale they are now able to utilize..with the entire frame in focus.
Astounding.
Utterly and completely astounding.
Oscars on so many levels..the special effects houses
will clean up in those categories on award night...
And the characters...holy shit.
Human actors are just about done for.
Disbelief is suspended here as well..
almost all living creatures appeared perfectly natural.
OMFG...and then there is Navi Nipple...featured subtly but prominently throughout.
You will likely not see a more BEAUTIFUL movie for some time..so go see this one.
If you're a smoker....well...you get the idea....smoke up.
