wtf is a bear plug you might ask
well,on the day i filmed this,i thought i was looking at an animal of some sort, that had passed through the digestive track of a bear
what ive learned since,is it is a fecal plug
it is a prerequesit for the act of hibernating
this one in the vid is the biggest one that ive seen in my researching of bear plugs
its interesting to note the butterfly and larvae making use of it

this will explain it better

http://www.bear.org/website/bear-pages/ ... -plug.html

this is pretty a infomative piece on hibernation

http://www.nps.gov/yell/naturescience/denning.htm

have been looking for reference vids, but not much on them

there is some natural science going on with these bear plugs that i find intriguing
( imagines fat people with fecal plugs made of hair, not eating for 5 or 6 months, getting skinny, lol)
( imagines starving folks with a slowed down digestive metabolism, with a more efficient nutrition intake)
lol

Haha..Kentrb never knew you were an ursine scatologist
interesting bear fact: -
Dont ever try to sneak up on a hibernating bear, scientists tried it they tested trying to sneak up on them but the bears heart rate immediately goes up in preparation to attack..

Bears look funnier when you shave them.

I always find your videos interesting kentrb :flop:

You'll never know when you will need to know about a bears arse plug, its really vital knowledge, it should be taught in schools. Fascinating stuff. Essential learning.

And I took the time to learn these facts............ :scary:

well webcat
imagine this

you are walking in the forest, its all quiet and peacefull
you come upon a arse plug, laying in the middle of the trail (now you know what they look like, lol)

first and foremost, you now know that there is a bear den in the immediate vacinity
this in itself shouldnt be alarming
but, alot of bear dens have these little guys called bear cubs in them
these little guys usually have a protective mother keeping watch over them
alot of,if not most bear attacks, happen when trail walkers stumble in between a mother and her cubs

now awareness has been added to your peacefull quiet nature walk

:D :D :D

Thanks for that kentrb, but strangely enough I've never encountered a bear in the Scottish Highlands.

Not once.

Nope, never.

Well, unless you count a very large badger that leapt outa a bush and I nearly peed myself and ran screaming all girly like back to my car.

That was enough nature for one afternoon.

Back to the vodka. And real wild nature - a classroom, even mummy bear would run from the creatures that inhabit that terrible place........... :scary:

:D
