I know this is not as dramatic as a Nessie, Yeti or Sasquatch but for a long time in my neck of the woods, sightings have been made of non native animals which leave behind remains of sheep and other animals. One common explanation has often been attributed to the fact that animal lovers of big cats release them into the wilderness when finances to keep said animal are scarce. Is this a common practise in other countries ?

Enclosed find a clip which is just one of many, at first I though it was a lion with a mane but now I think it is a wild boar, which I beleive have been released in Scotland but not the south of the UK! :look:

Happens in the States a LOT.

My in-laws have a ranch in upper west texas on which they have seen a maned male lion and lioness on their land twice, and had hogs killed, although unclear if the lions did it. There is currently a bounty on them, and i registered for it, but did not win the lottery, as the bounty was around $2500...

We have several places scattered around the states (and here in Texas) that are Exotic animal sanctuaries and in some cases they escape, and in others become too expensive to feed, or too aggressive so they actually drive out into the desert and release them.

More often they are just people who somehow manged to buy a young cat and then when it gets too big or aggressive, they also release them. Florida is having that prblem with large snakes, i mean REALLY large snakes, killing off local fauna..and eating pets.

Recently one of these was pictured after having eaten an alligator whole..and then exploding.. both died..

Great post!

Can't remember if his is the one talking about the breeding pairs of large cats in devon or cornwall or not, but they're quite interesting if you can stand the crappy quality :D
