what operating system? (windows XP?, Vista? 7?)

A must have for windows users
Task Manager Fix is a FREEWARE system utility to fix task manager disabled by spywares, trojans and displays error message “Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator“, which blocks access to Windows Task Manager.
When you try to open Windows Task Manager, by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL the following error often appear:

Windows System Recovery Tool
I have a full version of this, but you can get a trial.
Works great and protects you 24/7
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free
Also this...Adblock Plus — for annoyance-free web surfing
One more that helps, to be used in conjunction with malwarebytes ,otherwise malwarebytes will keep on telling you who it's blocking all the time, and that can become very annoying.
PeerBlock 1.0+ (r484) Installer
These all work along side your normal anti-virus with no conflicts.
Happy surfing, and stay safe.

Myth crushed - new viruses shake Mac users !
The claim that Apple computers would not be affected by viruses and Trojans have now been dashed. The new virus can take over your computer, security experts warn.
Safety Both Macworld and Prisjakt.nu reports about the new Trojan that pretends to be an antivirus program for Mac computers.
The program, which calls itself the "Apple Security Alert" automatically scans your computer and then ask yourself if you want to delete infected files. If you choose to make it be a zip file downloaded by the name of "anti-malware.zip" and "MacProtector.mpkg" in unpacked, writes MacWorld.
But the file is actually a Trojan horse and the ever-circulating the myth that Macs can not be infected by viruses is now broken, "says David Jacoby , security expert at Kasperesy Lab.
"Generally net swindlers do whatever they want with your computer. If you pay by credit card online, they can steal your data and you go on Facebook, they can access your passwords," he says as prisjakt.nu.
He recommends that people with Macs to always have the latest security updates installed, and to invest in a good antivirus program.
MacWorld has now published a link to the site SecureMac
that explains how to remove the fake programs.

The myth is rather that mac cant be infected.
Of course they can.
They just aren't being written targeting them,
because of a lower profit potential
since so few users (ie potential targets)
have the common sense to use them.
The amount of time the average user would save by having one
would more than cover the cost of the superior hardware and stable OS.

Thanks for the comments all. The company bought another one; guess that one was on it's way out anyway. Glad they didn't get pissed. Peace.

A friend was trying to watch the disclose.tv video of a mermaid today (top of the most watched list) and got a nasty "Windows Security Center" hijacker saying everything he tried to run was infected....
The thing disabled system restore, erased all shortcuts in the system tools folder, installed it's system tray alerter which won't close or go away, pops up with a link to pay for the removal of "all detected" spyware, etc.
Got it cleaned pretty fast but only because I've dealt with similar issues several times in the past and know how to use the registry editor.

I try not to troll, but sometimes people just fucking deserve it.
