Conclusive ... cat walking on railway tracks
Military policeman Chris Swallow was in his friend's garden when he spotted the puma-like creature on the estate.
The dog handler saw the black animal prowling close to HM Naval base in Helensburgh, Scotland, but initially thought it was a Labrador.
After taking some pictures the shocked officer discovered that the creature — similar to a black panther — was the size and shape of a big cat.
The pictures are revealed less than a week after a horse was attacked by a "puma-like" cat near to the Sundrum Holiday Park in Ayrshire.
The animal's owner found it badly injured with claw and slash marks on its hind quarters.
‘ Looking back at the video I don't think there's any doubt that it's a big cat. ’
Mr Swallow, originally from Huddersfield but who is now living in Helensburgh, snapped the cat on June 30 as he helped a friend.
And he believes it could be the mysterious puma that is on the loose.
He said: "My friend's house is next to the West Highland Line and at one point I looked down and saw what I first thought was a black Labrador on the tracks.

Shocked ... Chris Swallow
"There were trains coming and going throughout the day and I was a bit concerned, but when I looked again I saw that the animal wasn't moving the way I expected a dog to.
"It was then I realised that what I was seeing was a big cat and I shouted to my friend to come and have a look.
"I've heard stories about creatures like this moving about the countryside, but never really believed them before.
"Looking back at the video I don't think there's any doubt that it's a big cat."
The sighting is almost 60 miles from the recent encounter in Coylton, Ayrshire, where the cat attacked the pedigree horse.
Now experts in the MoD believe several of the mysterious creatures could be on the loose across the country.
Speculation on where the creatures have come from has been rife, with many people believing that they could have escaped from a private zoo or collection.
Prior to the 1974 Wildlife Act, it was not illegal to release wild animals into the British countryside.
But Shaun Stevens, a National Researcher with Big Cats in Britain, believes the sightings could point to a new species of cat being discovered.
He said: "We have regular sightings reported every year of large black cats. In the UK we get a sighting practically every day.
"I have a theory that some of these cats may be a hybrid species or possibly a new species of cat."
Described as possibly 'one of the best pieces of footage of a big cat in the UK' after a military policeman caught pictures on his phone..

Tracks in Durham field could be legendary puma
Large animal tracks, thought to have been made by the legendary Durham Puma, have been snapped in a farmer's field in West Durham.

The big prints, measuring three and a half inches (9cm) in length, were spotted by a walker, who told a local photographer of his find.
Running along one length of a muddy field the prints clearly show a large paw with deep claw markings.
The legendary Durham puma has been sighted on numerous occasions over the last two decades, and is said to stalk through the riverbanks and countryside.
But it is the first time fresh tracks have been found in recent years.
The beast had been captured on film in 1995 with a rabbit between its teeth.
The huge paw-prints were found in Winston, County Durham, close to the banks of the River Tees.
The man who spotted the tracks, over the weekend, and wished to remain anonymous said: "I spotted them on the ground, it was so big I couldn't miss it.
"I had a look over my shoulder in case the thing which made it was still nearby.
"I've never seen anything like it, it's incredible. I'd heard of the Durham Puma before, and it's the only thing I can think of that would explain tracks like these."
Other witnesses have come forward since the tracks were found.
Local angler Roger Pedleham, 43, a wholesale flower merchant, of Darlington, recalls the day he had a close encounter with the elusive feline four years ago.
He said: "I had been out fishing for a few hours so I was starting to pack up when I became aware of something behind me.
"I climbed up the bank quietly and it was just slinking away.
"The first thing I noticed was a big long tail that was totally unmistakable.
It was so long that it came down and looped back up.
"Its walk and gait were very distinctive and it was about two and a half to three foot tall.
"I could tell by the way it walked that it was a cat. My heart was absolutely pounding.
Roger followed the beast until it disappeared through a hole in the hedge.
"It was following the field edge and it was very black, like a black panther."
Roger was initially reluctant to report his sighting for fear that he wouldn't be taken seriously.
But when others claimed to have seen the puma he eventually broke his silence.
He added: "I got some stick about it but I know what I saw. I've been back since but I've not seen anything."
"The way that it slinked off was fantastic to watch but afterwards I didn't hang around. It was the fastest I've ever got off the riverbank."

Durham puma spotted again
From the Northern Echo, first published Tuesday 6th May 2003
The phantom Durham puma is not only real, but was recently spotted prowling the countryside, according to a wildlife expert.
Sergeant Eddie Bell, a Durham Constabulary wildlife liaison officer, recently received a report of a big brown cat lurking in the shadows of a rural area near Durham City.
While he has been informed of many similar sightings of what people believed to be the Durham puma over the past 20 years, most have turned out to be feral cats.
But Sgt Bell said the description given by the latest caller, who wishes to remain anonymous, left him in no doubt that he had seen the legendary beast.
"A man rang to report it and the description was very good," he said.
"It was a proper brown puma and its size and shape were described properly.
"About every 15th sighting is probably a puma."
In the 1960s and 70s, pumas were commonly kept as pets, but when new legislation restricting this took effect in 1976, many were released into the wild.
Sgt Bell believes there could still be up to 80 or 90 living in the British Isles.
Since 1986, he has received around 350 reports of sightings in County Durham, but believes that only around 70 of these were genuine.
He said the creatures could quite easily have survived largely undetected for so long.
"It's a very easy life for them here compared with North America, there they are from," he said.
"They have survived 10,000ft up in the Canadian Rockies, so there's nothing here that would worry them.
"They are very shy and will fight to the death to protect their territory, but they are not dangerous to people."
Sgt Bell believes there could be up to ten females living in the county, along with three roaming males.
"They never meet except to mate because if they did, they would kill each other," he said.
"There's no puma Women's Institute."
* Pumas can be recognised by their brown colouring and size - around 5ft from nose to base of tail and 28 inches from paw to shoulder, and weighing 160-170lbs. They live on farmland, are nocturnal, and can be spotted crossing roads, on old railway lines, or near riverbanks.

You're not honestly saying that you believe that looks like an ordinary black house cat are you?
Can you not see the CLEAR difference in a house cat and a fucking panther? If someone had of been out there, that thing could play with them and get agitated just enough to rip their head off.
Here's an ordinary domestic cat...

Here's a panther, and they do run wild, we have them where I live - though scarce, it's one of the reasons I pack heat in the woods...

Of course, this is my favorite Panther...

A normal house cat will weigh 8 to 10 lbs.
That's not very much. They are very slender and narrow bodied.
BUT
not all of them are.
I have a cat, that actually is built like a lion, or bulldog.
VERY wide shouldered, and extremely muscular.
Mooky weighs 20lbs.

He also has a primordial crest on his skull, which is more common with larger cats, mountain lions, bobcats, etc.
