Wonder how they are going to make a mirror that big & what out of ?

In sections obviously but making the sections as parts is one heck of a job.

Real hardcore astronomers often buy glass blanks & grind their own mirrors, the blanks cost thousands for anything much over a foot in diameter & it takes ages to do the grinding too.
