Blockade of Monsanto in the Netherlands
Blockade of Monsanto in the Netherlands
http://www.gmwatch.org/latest-listing/1 ... etherlands
The chemical company Monsanto has 23% of the worldwide market of commercial seeds in its hands. In the last 5 years, the company has bought up three large internationally active seed companies in the Netherlands: De Ruiter Seeds, Western Seeds, and Seminis. As a result, Monsanto now dominates the world market for vegetable seeds and seedlings. In addition, Monsanto is the market leader in genetically engineered soy, corn, sugar beets, and cotton, and has a large market share in pesticide sales.
Genetic engineering is often presented as a solution to the global food question. But in spite of 15 years of cultivation of genetically manipulated crops, 2009 witnessed a record amount of starvation. GM crops have not increased yields.

hi dr how are you buddy, hope u well, ive read so much dodgy stuff about monsanto, they have a notorious reputation going back to the sixties, they were i think the first company to produce lsd actually, for trials for the cia,who used to test on innocent people without there knowing btw,the gen mod seeds are hybridized and dont reproduce either i think,so you cant replant them,so i believe, well ive tried growing them from food ive bought at supermarket but they usually dont work,i think thats deliberate too, those who control seed distribution control the world basically?
hey just as an off topic point, have you ever tried kombucha cider[non alcoholic] it comes from siberia and grows as a fungus in ponds there,[health food shops is oz got it] its been used for centuries for longevity,if you can get some from health food shop, amazing stuff, can brew uself too, easily, anyhow good post regs ms.

Hey doc with all this being said, guess what's on the news today. The produce bought in stores which use pestasides are being linked to ADHD. So it seems that the picture of nutritional genecide widens. If it isn't this company createing geneticly altered fruits and vegetables it's someone else spraying chemicals on the crops. The extreamly difficult becomes the rediculously impossable, they know going organic is beyond the reach of the many and they like it that way.
Anything of interest always comes at ones expense.

Isn't the biggest danger with these seeds that they do not reproduce? So, you buy seed from Monsanto to plant a crop and once you harvest that crop, you have to buy more seeds from Monsanto to grow a new crop. What happens when all the seed out there does not reproduce?
There ya go.
There ya go.

Thanks..although,how is going organic beyond the reach of many??....you dont even need a garden these days to grow your own...this to me is part of the conditioning...i'm constantly amazed at people when you give them the choice of organic versus non organic theyr eally don't care, even if they know the non organic is saturated in toxic chemicals...people's minds are not right...but alot ARE thankfully...organic is the only way forward for this planet in terms of feeding us all...not GM not overuse of pesticides which ideally we would like to eliminate completely which i think is entirely feasible.

I still find it amazing that hundreds if not thousands of research scientists who work at Monsato can throw away basic high school biology (specifically, the importance of diversity) in favor of genetically engineered seed clones. Yeah, Monsato is all about money... so why don't they run a private seed bank with as many varieties as they can get? They can be a global depository. Not only is rotating crops good for the land, but rotating varieties just might be the ticket to preventing widespread crop failure. How well would this work?

Corn A Corn D

Beet A Beet D
Year 2 Year 2

Beet B Beet E

Year 3 Year 3

If they want to be assholes and tell farmers what to grow, they can still be greedy fuckers and sell seeds each year... Because it just MIGHT be better if farmers didn't plant the same variety of crops as last year anyways (but I'm not sure, don't hang me for it). Our days of non-regulation are over so farmers don't have a choice anyways, but even if corporations or governments want to micromanage it all there seems little need to ruin the environment and risk starving people via crop failure.
But I am naive...
