Border Security!!! To Keep People Out? Or Keep People In?

Security on the US/Canada border has been pretty much non-existent over the years. Even since 911, the security has increased but nothing to the extent of whats going on now. Residing on a farm along a grid road which parallels the border on the Canadian side, I've been watching unmarked vehicles "patrol" the road... very dark tinted glass windows. This has been going on frequently for the last 3 weeks. I witnessed 2 Homeland Security Vehicles approach the border on 2 separate occasions in the last week. I have never seen a Homeland Security vehicle ever. This wasn't this intense even after 911. Why the hype now? What are we (Canada/US) protecting our own from? Its gotten even worse. I'll post some of my own picks. This has gotten crazy.

All I can say is is about damn time. Especially with the drug war spilling over into the states. Our borders should have been secured long ago.

Can anyone describe what those Homel. Sec. vehicles look like??? I really want to know. LOGO or anything other than black windows?

I wonder what they are doing.

Yep, with the increase of drug violence in Mexico and some American border towns coming under siege by these ruthless cartels not to mention the countless kidnappings, it is about damn time we started sealing the border up. If Mexico can't control their people then we are under no obligation to put our citizens in danger just because Latino lobbyist call us racist for not letting their cousins sneak across the border.

Ask me we should send the military down there to make it perfectly clear this will not be tolerated.

from what i understood from the couple sites i've seen and heard on the news, newspapers and the internet, they are NOT armed but carrying out surveillance of the border and all info is monitored by the border patrol. And I'm telling ya, from what is documented about them, they are some nasty piece of high tech engineering with a vast array of sensors and gadgets. would be great for huntin coyotes from the comfort of your couch. Neat and deadly machines. 18 hours on one tank. thats alot of ground covered.

Its a blue writing on white background with a blue eagle in the middle.... around the outside it says department of homeland security... nothing else on the truck.... black extended cab 4x4. i took pics with my old fashioned 35mm. digital couldn't zoom in enough. should have the pics tomorrow. i'll post them.

If I were to take a guess on whats going on, I'd say that there is something significant in the works. Never have I seen those vehicles with that logo except on tv. there are 2 large power stations only a few miles from me along with 3 major dams. the dams were built for not only cooling water for the coal fired stations, but for flood control for the US and Canada seeing that these rivers run into the US. There hasn't been any security on the dams, not until recently. the power station's security has also been heightened. If anyone has any ideas, I'd sure like to know.
