Editor’s Note: We at GCC are standing by SUA staff, the original source of this report was from a person who spoke with service members in theater.

The sources’ story was conveyed as printed, and it was confirmed by military personnel who did not want their names published.

Official statements were not forthcoming and no commentary was added.

SUA and Gold Coast Chronicle made numerous attempts to get official responses, but none were forthcoming

Friday, June 8, 2012 4:40 PM EST – SUA has learned through various sources that an unprovoked attack on the US Navy occurred this morning in the Straits of Hormuz. CVN-65.

The USS Enterprise aircraft carrier and its group were reportedly attacked by no less then 4 sophisticated jets.

Confidential sources within the military have confirmed the attack off of the “Broken Isthmus”

There is no confirmed word on damage or if there are any casualties, but SUA has learned that this attack may have caused injuries and possibly one death. We have contacted the military and are awaiting official response. SUA is reaching out across the land to confirm.

Any sources would be welcomed. As of 5pm, CentCom has neither denied or confirmed the reports and pledges to update when further information is available.

UPDATE 5:25 EST – US Navy released: From U.S. Fifth Fleet–USS Enterprise completed a routine, nonthreatening, transit of the Strait of Hormuz. No date confirmation.

UPDATE 6:30 PM EST – “The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, which oversees Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs and controls strategic missile units, have had a series of naval and air maneuvers in the gulf in recent weeks.

These involved the firing of an array of missiles, including anti-ship weapons, and focused primarily on the Strait of Hormuz.” (This was published today at noon.)

UPDATE 7:30 EST – SUA has been unable to secure further official military responses to date. Until further information is available, we stand by our original sources; however we are going to table the story at this time.

We invite any official contributions pro and con.

For the sake of our troops in the field and our national security, we hope this was a mis-interpretation of a naval event as reported by individuals in theater.

Hormuz Attack Story – Friday, June 8, 2012
Editor’s Note – Facebook and Twitter came alive yesterday when a man in New Hampshire posted a message on his wall describing what sailors’ assigned to the USS Enterprise had told their families about an event they witnessed. These family members spread the word amongst their close friends and family relating that their spouses had witnessed an attack by jets – of unknown origin. There was immediate word that injuries were inflicted, possibly a death.

The event has been called a ‘false flag’, denied by many, yet verified by many more. You decide, only time will tell.

SUA contacted the source and after several phone calls, it was clear that they were being truthful, and that they were quite afraid. They were only relating what they were told by those in theater. It was not just one source for these folks, it was multiple, and specific.

SUA subsequently sought verification from other trusted sources within the military itself and elsewhere. After several hours, and many phone calls, confidential active-military sources confirmed our worst fears that an event of this magnitude did take place. SUA also received many third-hand reports from independent sources, but did not report on these because they were unverifiable and are still awaiting confirmation.

Contact was finally made with official military media offices, and as we updated the story (See below) we informed the public that CentCom denied the event. Soon after, we noticed that the Navy itself released information on the transit of the straits by the Enterprise, and they also mentioned the nature of Iranian actions in the area of late. (See below, and notice the timing.)

There were so many conflicting reports, so it was important to just report the evidence, sans any commentary, and seek further information from any and all in the blogosphere, the military, and from other media.

In light of recent events concerning the manner in which official reports are sent out to the public, including the release of classified information – we are all questioning everything we see and hear.

Fears are very high in America, and no one knows who to trust anymore. The public is on edge about so many things, especially concerning Iran and our servicemen and women in harms way.

We hoped at each juncture that events were just mis-interpreted by those in theater, but knowing that minor incidents in that area are very frequent, it was far more likely that the events were not mis-interpreted, especially if our people were harmed. We certainly hope that no injuries or deaths occurred.

SUA encourages all inquiries and comments, and will continue to update the story as it unfolds. The following is the original posting with only the letters “PM” added to the times of the updates. You be the judge.

We cannot possibly vet it all now, but we are working on it. When we can thoroughly vet the input as we did earlier, we will inform you. Please, send us what you have, or tweet your findings, pro and con. Its about our security and that of our warriors in theater. Uncover the truth….our sole goal.

This some sort of bad joke?

I don't know. Some are saying it's a hoax, and the ship isn't even in the Gulf.

I wouldn't know.

This was written yesterday too.

I'm calling :bullshit: on this. This would of been mainstream by now. Probably the sly bastards feeding us stories to test the waters, public reaction and all that.
