The Drake equation states that:
N = R* × fp × ne × fl × fi × fc × L,


Where N is the number of civilizations in our galaxy, with which we might hope to be able to communicate.

So speaks one of the greatest human-beings to grace this planet, so wise in his out-look, and yet his words fall on deaf ears as far as TPTB are concerned. Anything it seems to me that truly benefits man-kind is seen as wrong in their eyes, they know no shame.
