This is crazy. New photos have appeared in Google Maps showing unidentified titanic structures in the middle of the Chinese desert. The first one is an intricate network of what appears to be huge metallic stripes. Is this a military experiment?

Talk about your morning weird. Some people studying Google Earth for some reason managed to run across some very weird patterns in the Chinese desert that have a bunch of folks stumped. The patterns look like stripes that were etched or dug over the top of the landscape in the area. Some of the lines appear to be made from a silver/white material.

Somewhere on the interwebz, I had read that this whole area is used by the military for target practice.
So they might put those white bands down to make it look like an urban area etc.

Yup... these seem to be target practice areas...

Big question though...what are they using to shoot at these targets?

Some more info on China's space program (what I think some of these structures are for...Space to Surface weapons (i.e. titanium rods dropped from a satellite)

A titanium rod that is dropped by a satellite which uses the Earth's gravity to pull it downwards, the satellite knows its velocity and its target, and as such can release a rod at the right time to unleash a *very* powerful, but precise, impact on a target.

The large grid could *potentially* represent certain areas of different type of "formations" of the sand in that region...or particulates... if you had someone cleaning these things off regularly...and were dropping all sorts of *nasty* things in the areas...then you could better track where any potentially harmful particulates have migrated to...or towards...

Sort of like sectioning off areas based on the terrain and how the wind in the region pours through the lower regions and scuffs off the higher regions...if you were dropping things that could have trace amounts of higher levels of radiation...say...a titanium rod that impacts with a small, but atomic level, explosion...then you could possibly track the movement of the now radioactive "sand and debris" to determine how it is moving...and where it is moving... as well as know which quadrants have the least amount of "particles moving from them"...to know the best regions to do such tests...the ones with higher sand/particle movements...you avoid...the ones with the least...you target...

Probably not what it is...but a possibility as to why it is so "weird" looking... and most definitely...sectioned up...
