The chem trails came to an abrupt stop for both the jets. Is that normal during a high speed chase?

no chemtrails in this video ;-)
what you see are nice and thick contrails that appear when the jets turn their afterburners on.
In that clip you can see two jets trying to keep up with a "something", with their afterburners on, until one of the two jets just gives up the chase and turns the afterburners off.

Here is my layout of the first scene.

Pilot McKool - "uh, roger, hey, Jackson, you see that up there?"

Pilot Jackson - "sure do.....let's chase it!"

Tower - "Boys, you got 10 minutes to get your hides back on tarmac or I have your wings!"

Pilot McKool/Jackson - "Stuff it tower we got ourselves a real UFO!"

Tower - "well good thing I only had the fill station put a 1/4 tank in your bird Jackson, ahaha!"

Pilot Jackson - "say wh....(power down)....you honkey mothe(Systems alert)"

Pilot McKool - "it's alright Jackson, I took the CO's bird, he is all full...I'll keep on the hunt!"

(Later that evening in the Barracks)

Pilot Jackson - "Soooo, McKool, what did you find out?"

Pilot McKool - "That our fuel costs $576 a gallon and that weather balloons are damn fast"
