Are they holy relics?

I thought they were just scribblings of a cult. They do contain some of the same Ideas of the Bible (New testament) however they do not prove that Jesus was anything other than a man. In Fact they show how unoriginal Christianity is.

The fact that they are hidden from the public by the Catholic Church for the most part makes more questions then answers. They probably prove Jesus was a mythical figure.... Not sure why the church gets to hold onto human history when it wasn't written for them. but thats another thread

Well I do what I can, Low.

If you are like me and see religion as a disease or a shackle attached to the human race, you would probably spend some time pointing out that it has no basis in reality. Granted I have had limited success in deprogramming people (only 3 that I know of), but still you never know. There may be people out there who just need a little push or a single idea that shatters that facade that religion puts over the world.

I know it pisses you off, and I am not sorry. You are pissed because you probably buy into that BS. That's your choice. Don't feel bad, there have been wiser more intelligent people than you (or I for that matter) that have clung to this yoke of religion. But since religion requires ZERO intelligence, other flaws in a persons psyche is usually to blame, fear being the most common.

Wrong. The Dead Sea scrolls pre-date Jesus and are old testament. The fact that they were penned apart from central Judaism gives them significance as a source of accuracy of the manuscripts that were used to assemble the Bible.

There seems to be a lot of hatred coming through in the anti-Christian posts here. I have found that ex-catholic alter boys are some of the most hate filled anti-religious people I have ever met. Is it possible that some of you were sodomized by a pervert catholic priest?

Read closer, I said the scrolls have a lot of the same ideas of the new testament, that's why I said it showed how unoriginal the New testament was when it was assembled by the NWO of that time.

People whose ONLY objection is that 'fear' meme proves to me that you havent done any searching on your own to challenge your own beliefs, rather ONLY read people who reinforced those beliefs.

If you think religion is about fear (scoping across all mythologies and all races and timeperiods) in the "salvation myth" you wont find fear at all.

So the fact that its all you got tells me, that you and I arent on an even playing field.

Lots of people (like you) assume out of their asses that ive bought into anything, simply because I can discuss the entire question through the filter of the Christian Myth. But ia ssure you that is an assumption on your part. You, on the other hand, have always been ready to display your ignorance of the beliefs that you hang to just as tightly as do misguided Christians. I think its why you can recognize them.

I can do so with any world religion, and defend its mechanics in the same way. (ie I can sucessfully explain the purpose of world religions) But you've demonstrated such a lack of subtle thinking abilities for the coarser, more 'street' level objections, that i FULLY recognize that it would be a waste of time to attempt to educate you. Since you are so smart, you already have ALL world religions figured out, insofar as an incorrect and ignorant interpretation of them reinforces your obviously fearful world view.

and you declare that all religions rely exclusively on fear....

Where in the Buddhist message does the fear lie?

Till you can answer that, then i cannot consider you an equal in the debate.

And the correct answer is NOT that Buddhism doesn't rely on fear.
