The controversy over the Codex Alimentarius relates to a perception that it is a mandatory standard for food - including vitamin and mineral supplement - safety. Supporters of the Codex Alimentarius say that it is a voluntary reference standard for food and that there is no obligation on countries to adopt Codex standards as a member of either Codex or any other international trade organization. From the point of view of its opponents, however, one of the main causes of concern is that the Codex Alimentarius is recognized by the World Trade Organization as an international reference standard for the resolution of disputes concerning food safety and consumer protection.

Let me repeat a key point here ...it is a voluntary reference standard for food and that there is no obligation on countries to adopt

The biggest issue I see with it is that developing nations will have next to no other reference materials available for comparison against.

One other thing that I do notice about it from scanning it is that it seems to have some similarities to the EU's Food Supplements Directives.

Any links to official WHO or FAO sites that have proof any of them said this Jones.

Cause I couldnt find any, I found a lot of sites quoting the WHO saying it, but couldnt actually find a WHO site that confirms they did say it.

Apart from that great conspiracy.

The Codex as circulated, with the implications it carries is pure and simple..

A HOAX.

Its not about Vitamins, its a bout Food Supplements and the claims made on their behalf, and their regulation.
(quite a difference fromt he way its being touted)

Problem is..

Its a non binding pile of shit with no legal teeth whatsoever,
a HOAX to generate FEAR... that has been perpetrated in
continuity YEARLY since 2005.

these are Doctors Scientists and PHDs. A little more qualified than little old us which I admit thats not always a good thing but when people like this are trying tell us something when their evidence does support then you have to listen to them, period. They have nothing to gain by telling us this.

Listen I dont really care about any of this stuff, its a storm in a tea cup to me ( herbal organic tea of course).
What really gets me is the qouteing of WHO and Fao.
When and where did they say billions will die from this decision, just piont me to the relevent official WHO site where they released this statement.

I have heard from numerous sites I googled that people say they said it, but as yet have not found them actually saying it.

I completely agree with what you all have said especially LOWSIX :shock:

,yes and that something like Codex could be a good thing.There are alot of junk vitamins out there doing more harm than good that's for sure.
