I think this might be JUST the book you're looking for. I just ordered it a few days ago, it's out of print now, and its like 40$ for a used copy, but it seems TOTALLY worth it.
If I read the descriptions about it right, it basically compares all ancient mythologies and shows how similar they all are.. Everything from biblical stories, to greek mythology, to the folklore about faeries in iceland. I would def check this out if I were you.
As for Zecharia Sitchin, "End of Days" is a good book which sums up a lot of his research quite nicely. You can get a good foundation on his works from just reading "End of Days". I suggest reading that one first, and THEN reading the rest of his books.
Good luck
