GREENVILLE, S.C. —South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District representative wants to know why he saw IRS agents training with powerful, semi-automatic rifles.

Republican Jeff Duncan said he made the discovery at a Maryland Federal Law Enforcement Training Center on May 23.

The congressman was touring the facility with Homeland Security officials as part of his investigation into the amount of ammunition purchases the agency conducts.

Duncan told News 4’s Sean Muserallo he saw about eight or nine shooters identified to him as IRS agents practicing at an indoor 100-yard range.

“While we were sitting there,” said Duncan, “the gentleman told them to sling their weapons and load a 30-round magazine into the AR-15s they were training with.”

Duncan said he was concerned about what he saw.

“Why do IRS law enforcement agents need standoff capability that you would have with a long rifle or with a weapon similar to an AR-15? They’re generally investigating tax evasion, fraud and money laundering. We think of the IRS as an audit agency more than doing the type of law enforcement where they have to use an AR-15.”

Duncan said the IRS has the resources of the federal government, including the FBI, if they come into a situation where they feel like they need a SWAT team.

According to IRS spokesman Mark Green out of the agency’s Atlanta field office, for security reasons, the IRS does not discuss their firearms training operations.

It just doesn't make sense, unless the obvious is the reason - the government is planning armed, militaristic, total control of U.S. citizens. Something is coming, something bigger that 9/11.

So everyone...literally everyone should have a gun.

Children? Check.

School teachers? Yes.

Folks drinking in bars? Of course.

The mentally ill? Load 'em up.

People on the terrorist watch list? Check.

Government agents? No goddam way, what are you fucking crazy?

As individuals yes, they are allowed to have weapons, but on the job training for IRS agents for the purpose of their jobs - now that raises suspicion. Now if it were handgun training, the argument could be raised for self protection, but this is SEMI-AUTOMATIC ASSAULT RIFLES TRAINING FOR U.S. TAX AGENTS!!! If you can't understand the reason for suspicion, then you're the one that's nuts.

Nobody is escorting a group of children or drunks or mentally ill people to a gun range for semiautomatic weapon training to help them pursue being children, drunks and mentally ill.

Isn't it funny 3 years ago Alex the crazy conspiracy theorist Jones said that the Irs was being armed with semi-auto rifles. Everybody called him a whackjob, now it is coming out that it was true all along.

I do think it's slightly sus, but that's not going to stop me from enjoying the irony of groups who never say a bad word against guns getting all breathless over this.

OMG, save us from the SEMI-AUTOMATIC ASSAULT RIFLES!
