Map: APPROX
Crop: Wheat
Description: Centre circle ringed by linked circles, 4 large, 7+ small, star shape at one end?
Discovery: Sunday 18th July 2010 at 04:01:12
Name: John Jackson
Status: I saw this one yesterday 17/07 17:00 (Field below Wentworth Castle, Stainborough Park, Barnsley). Not been in field though there is an official path around the lower edge. Have seen a single circle in the area some years ago but never a larger one like this. Access is private but would be easy up the tractor tracks from the path around the edge of the field. Best viewed from the other side of the motorway.

Welcome to Wentworth Castle Gardens...
Wentworth Castle Gardens & Stainborough Park is the only Grade One Listed landscape in South Yorkshire, and contains a fascinating collection of 26 listed buildings and monuments.
The estate is now in the process of being restored, and over £16m was raised to complete phase one of the restoration (2004-08). Rare formal gardens have been rediscovered, national collections of Rhododendrons, Camellias and Magnolias enhanced; and over 100,000 bulbs planted to create a carpet of colour.
Buildings and monuments have been repaired and opened to visitors for the first time. The majestic Stainborough Castle, built by Thomas Wentworth in 1730, has been consolidated as a romantic folly and offers panoramic views across the gardens and park - if you can find the energy to climb the steps to reach the top of the tower!
Over 500 acres of historic parkland can be explored from the Parkland Trail, which links several restored follies and native woods, through the beautiful countryside of Stainborough. Both red and fallow deer can be seen on a daily basis grazing in the park.
Concealed in the old walled garden is an exciting children's adventure playground, which features a zip slide, together with swings and a castle - complete with aerial walkways and slides! For the not-so adventurous it also has a sand pit and a collection of play equipment suitable for younger children.
The visitor centre is located in a restored 18th century barn and contains a café, serving a delicious range of home-cooked food and refreshments.
With its atmospheric views, woodland walks and majestic follies - there is something for everyone to enjoy at Wentworth Castle Gardens & Stainborough Park throughout the year.
