Even bigger now. It is now a category 5 storm. Just under 300 kph winds. (183mph) From what I can tell, the eye is about 60km (35miles) across. The storm is half the size of Queensland.

About 1/3 of Townsville has been evacuated because of likely storm surge.
200 patients have been evacuated from Cairns hospital down to Brisbane. The army is currently organising the evacuations and they are on standby with equipment to restore services as soon as the storm passes.
ABC television http://www.abc.net.au/news/abcnews24/ Has an emergency radio transmitter and aerial waiting in safety until the storm passes and so does the telephone company for mobile communications.
Anyone who has not evacuated is now ordered to bunker down and get mattresses and pillows around the smallest room in the house along with tinned food and water.
To be honest, all of Queensland is operating like a well oiled machine in preparation for this storm which is equal in strength to Katrina.
My best wishes go to those who are being caught in this.
I should add that this storm is the largest in Australian living memory.

The storm has just taken out one of the radar stations that was tracking it.
Here this gif shows when the radar station stopped transmitting.
