DID THE HOLOCAUST ACTUALLY HAPPEN?

Before i start with this, as a disclaimer, i'd like to state that genocide by anyone against anyone regardless of race religion or colour etc. is, in my view, abhorrent and there can be no excuse for anything of the sorts to take place to any ethnic group.

My question is this: Did the Holocaust actually happen?
The reason i ask this is because there are certain groups in society that claim it did not happen and among them are Jews. It just got me thinking thats all and i wondered if anyone had any information on this. I deplore fascism in all its forms and this is not a clandestine way of denouncing Judaism or promoting racism, it's just a question that interests me.

I know that the term Holocaust is used incorrectly here because Holocaust means: death by fire. However, genocide it certainly was. I do not need reminding of the pictures cornbread and i am not saying i believe the genocide to be false. All i am asking is, why are there leading Jews stating that the given story is factually incorrect. Others say that those murdered were in fact leftist Jews. I myself do not know enough about this, i just wondered if anyone else did.

Yes it did.
Both my grandfathers were interned. I am curious what jews claim it never happened?.
Please keep in mind this is a very divisive topic, and raises many hakkles against the nay sayers, the jew haters,the ariens that beleive in their supremecy purely due to the colour of their skin, and eyes. The Nazis were truly an escaological society.

I do request that the moderators keep a close eye on this site, before it turns ugly, and spiteful. :shooting:

I don't care about the semantics.

Was there a genocidal effort? Yes

Were millions exterminated? Yes

There is not just one, single "given story". Every historian has his or her own perspective. Everyone that lived through it has their own story.
History always has a bias, just like journalism. There's no one objective viewpoint.

I think the point some people try to make, with some possible justification, is that the history of WW2 and the Nazis has been twisted by some historians to satisfy their politics or philosophies.
This is always the case regarding written history.

I believe the holocaust deniers do the same - they try to rewrite history for their purposes.

It's also true that a lot of the Jews were Socialists. So that makes it OK, I guess...
It's also true that some affluent Jews right here in Amsterdam helped inform on and plunder less fortunate Jews. There was a lot of sick shit going on and it's true, it's not as cut and dried as some people would like to make it all sound:

Axis = Evil
Allies = Good

I know better than that. Most people do.
