Death of Nurse who took the Phone prank from Australia

A nurse at a London hospital who took a hoax call about the Duchess of Cambridge has been found dead.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said in a statement they were "deeply saddened" by the death of the nurse, named as Jacintha Saldanha.

King Edward VII hospital paid tribute to "a first class nurse" who was the "victim of a hoax call."

Details of the pregnant duchess's medical condition were unwittingly revealed to two Australian DJs.

The DJs, from Sydney radio station 2Day FM - which says it is preparing a statement - posed as the Queen and Prince Charles.

The duchess had been admitted on Monday for acute morning sickness, and was discharged on Thursday.
'Excellent nurse'

BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt said he understood Mrs Saldanha was the person who answered the call from the Australian DJs and was not the nurse who discussed the duchess's medical condition.

Mrs Saldanha, a duty nurse, answered the telephone because it was 05:30 GMT in the morning and there was no receptionist on duty.

The BBC understands Mrs Saldanha had not been suspended or disciplined by the hospital.

The St James's Palace statement said the duke and duchess "were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha's family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time".

The hospital said in a statement: "We can confirm that Jacintha was recently the victim of a hoax call to the hospital.

"The hospital had been supporting her throughout this difficult time."

It added: "Jacintha has worked at the King Edward VII's Hospital for more than four years.

"She was an excellent nurse and well-respected and popular with all of her colleagues."

Scotland Yard said officers were called at 09:35 GMT on Friday after reports of a woman found unconscious at an address in central London.

They said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

That nurse that took the Call from the aussie fake Queen ...Dead !

Radio dj rang up and pretended to be the queen asking about kate middleton, a nurse thought it was the queen because the operator transfered the call to the ward she asked about kate's health made some goof about feeding her dog's asked if william was still there and some other chump in the background tried to sound like charles, the nurse fell for the ruse and answered the questions saying 'she was a bit dehydrated maa'm she's resting well and william left earlier''. there is no reason for her to commit suicide over it thats just plain ridiculous. :shock:

Well then, just an hour ago on our news it was reported that the nurse who took a prank call from a couple of DJs in Australia posing as the queen of England inquiring about her daughter in laws condition with regards to a nasty bout of morning sickness, was found dead this afternoon!!

The royal family "appeared" to have laughed it off and made no "official" comment, but less than an hour ago the reports are saying cause of death is unknown :peep:

I have to admit that as soon as I read about this it started setting off alarm bells in my head.

This is either a tragic suicide or yet another example of why it's a dodgy game once you've broken royal protocol.

Either way I feel terrible for the family that survives her. Leaving behind 2 children just before xmas... Tragic.

Ffs its suicide, all she did was make a minor mistake , not even the royal reptiles or their lackys are that stupid...yes its sad that she did something so selfish to her kids and partner just before Christmas but Im guessing to commit suicide because of the embarrassment ( and imo thats what it was ) that would follow that phone call, she mustve had some already underlying mental health issues....murdered because of a stupid mistake?

It Wasn't the nurse it was the Operator/Receptionist!!!!

The Receptionist barely said 2 words to the 'prank queen' she just put the call through to the ward

Now this is fishy shit she was a mother just doing a job I find it hard to believe she would kill herself.
