If you look at this picture from a slightly different persective of the same object, you can see the cable coming out of the back. I believe Mr Childress was saying the curvy bit inside the glass was the filament...

Ok, getting real interesting now, this article has a bigger picture of it and suggests both a connection to energy and the serpent...

In the image below the relationship between the Djed and the Great Serpent or planetary vibrational energy is clearly layed out. The Djed shown as the supporting foundation or that which upholds the Great Serpent or another way of expressing this the Great Serpent is expressed through the Djed.

It also suggest that the Kings Chamber in the Great Pyramid is a Djed.

The impulse and the need for us to ritualize these events in global celebration arise, naturally, in resonance with the mythic awakening of the archetype and because it is now alive in each of us.
