This is something I have recently been looking into and experimenting with. Here are a couple of really interesting art-bell radio interviews on the subject:

and here is a very interesting site, that offers a simple system to follow to practice both lucid dreams and OBEs...

http://www.saltcube.com/

I've only practised the OBEs a few times but have not been successfully, although each time I have got a little closer. The main problem I have been having, is getting freaked out when I can feel my body shutting down and going into paralysis. I have now managed to get past this step of the process without the fear but then I tend to get too excited and cannot relax enough to allow full paralysis. I will keep trying though and can't wait for the first full blown OBE. I haven't even tried the steps yet for practising lucid dreams, as I wanted to jump straight into the deep end but maybe I should, as it is supposed to be easier and SaltCube recommend the Lucid Dream training before the OBE training.

I do every night. It's hard to explain really. I start off by thinking about "life" , then, where we are, and all the f****d up stuff that goes on. Sounds strange but after few moments i move away from that and begin to "travel" in my head/thoughts. It all becomes crystal clear if you let it. However, typing about this does not do justice the same as talking face to face. I love the experience and it's good to know at least one other person on this planet is at least half thinking the way i do!!!!! Psycologists would have a field day with me if they had the right machine to get inside my head!!! (It's where the real truth lies!) Get back to me mate as i have no other to talk to about this, and it's killing me!!!!!!!!!

Hello mate, you may also like this as well then...

http://www.saltcube.com/out-of-body/chat-forum/viewForum.jsp?f=0

Its the forum for the SaltCube site. It's full of topics relating to different areas of OBEs and Lucid Dreams and has lots of peoples experiences and hints and tips.

The method I have been practicing is from the SaltCube videos which I purchased. I cannot go into every detail here, as they contain lots of information but basically it goes like this...

1) Lay absolutely still for as long as possible. Pay special attention to keeping your eyes still while they are closed.
2) After about 20mins your body will check to see if you mind is still awake. It does this by sending the signal for you to roll over. You must ignore this signal at all costs!
3) If you continue to ignore this signal, you body will start to go into paralysis and your whole body will gradually go numb (your facial muscles and breathing is not affected).
4) Give little muscle twitches in your hand (about one every 10 seconds). This will make your body think you are dreaming and will put that part of your body into deeper paralysis.
5) Now move onto the other parts of your body with the twitches. The twitch must be a little muscle twitch and not move that part of your body, else you will wake the body up.
6) If you get the vibrations or wooshing and cracking sounds, try to stay as relaxed as possible and breath deeply and slowly until it passes.
7) When you have entered complete paralysis, try to rotate your astral body around 90', so your head is where your physical feet are and then try to stand up.

This is only a very basic guide, as there is a lot of info in the videos, so I would recommend them if you are serious about this subject.

Good luck! :)

I don't astral travel as much as I used to. It's very distinct from lucid dreaming, though a lucid dream can be used to initiate astral projection.
A particularly odd experience was having a "dream" about being at work and trying to pick something up. my hand went straight through it, I tried a few times then looked over and saw myself standing there staring back at me. The other me then smiled and laughed & got on with work & I wondered what I was laughing about. I forgot about the dream for a few weeks, then one day I looked over and saw an empty patch of space, I refocused & saw my image trying to pick up something. Then a deja vu moment happened & I remembered the dream, laughed at myself for not realizing I was asleep & got on with work. That's one experience of many wierder. suffice to say I can't debunk astral projection other than explaining it away as drug induced hallucinations. Which is entirely plausable from at least one perspective.

astral projection is real and is not lucid dreams this can only occur when a person is highly anxious or deeply fretting about something in their life and may experience this occurrenceknown as astral projection some people may have numerous projections and remember them and can in some cases foresee the future i have experience this my self and seen the future which took me to about 15 years in the future and everything that i saw has come true to this the present day have had no astral projection, there may be higher beings/angels that allow such happenings only showing you what they want you to see you are not alone when you are experiencing this you may not be aware but its your thoughts that drives the passage of where you want to go and what you are allowed to see. :obsessed:

Lucid dreams can lead to OOBEs, and they are the best bet because you don't experience the body lying on the bed. At least, my last two OOBEs were triggered that way, and I was happy for weeks from just those two.

I like this! I will try it. I may have been contributing to the failure rate by just turning over! So tonight I will see what happens.

OH...

@ rawdney:

Night terrors and such may actually be that you are indeed awake while the body has gone into paralysis. Next time it happens, will yourself out and float around a bit. And if by Night Terrors you mean "entities", they can be rid of by thinking of your body generating electricity. I was actually attacked not two long ago and it freaked me out. I remembered reading Monroe's book (7 years earlier) and sure enough, he had a passage on it. I highly recommend Robert Monroe. He writes about it as a scientist. So you don't have to give up your religious beliefs or feel that you have to study in India under a guru to do it.

He was just a business man who had an extraordinary thing happen to him... And lucky for us he chose to write it all down in journal form.
It's a Clawspiracy...
