This interesting paper is dealing with the public opinion of self-hate being the dominant reason of violence. Instead, it is often observed that aggressors feel a high value of themselves. The research comes to an enlightening conclusion...

What the research did not add, was whether the narcissists lashed out at perceived criticism because of their inherent "self love' and superiority that makes them feel dominant, or if they lashed out in order to protect the facade of their "self love" in order to protect the damaged ego.

I can't speak about how much of the Constitution is in effect anymore... But thank God we still somewhat resemble a Republic and not a democracy!
