Earthquake rattles parts of Oklahoma
Associated Press - October 13, 2010 11:34 AM ET
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Two people were taken to a Norman hospital with apparent minor injuries after an earthquake rattled central Oklahoma and was felt in southern Kansas.
Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman Lara O'Leary said one man fell off a ladder during the Wednesday morning quake and is in good condition. She said she did not have details on the second person's injuries but that the person is in good condition.
Geophysicist Don Blakeman with the National Earthquake Information Center said the earthquake struck at 9:06 a.m. It was measured with a preliminary magnitude of 4.5 and was centered about six miles east of Norman and felt as far away as Bartlesville and Wichita, Kan.
Norman police Capt. Leonard Judy said the quake sent officers running out of the department to see if someone had crashed into the building.
