This Fall I took a trip from the West Coast of Canada to the Eastern Coast of Canada, known as the "Martimes" or "Maritime Provinces". My home town is Fredericton New Brunswick (Just North East of the state of Maine). Like many American East Coast towns, there's history in my hometown and surrounding area's that go back to the 1700's.
I'd like to post a few photo's of the ancient gravestones i took. I am lookin for help particularly on some of the symbols contained on the headstones. Comments and input would be most welcomed.

What does this symbol mean? It appears to be a sword shoved down through the $ money sign with 2 strikes through the S.

Interesting post,
My family roots are from east coast Canada as well. Nova Scotia to be exact. Much of the symbolism I have noticed on old gravestones there, are very deep rooted in Scottish, Irish and Celt background. Perhaps looking into this particular symbolism might give you an understanding to what you are looking for.
Cheers!
