Guys i'm not trying to knock anyones ideas but it isn't that straight forward.
It is cca 1400 bc. We're talking the different Kingdoms here.
Besides, it is the ,if not The, only example of non-frontalism. Ever.

what I meant, and what edgar meant is in drawings that are WAY older, like the one with the lotus flowers. Those are "drawn" according to VERY strict rules, and only a very small number of official scribes did those. The later stuff was done by "artists" just like you would find them today...

True. We can never be sure. Scholars used to think that the feet and legs must be turned at the same direction as the head. But, as we can see on the Saqqara wall, it's wrong :

I'm not here to stoke up the debate and definately don't want to stray away from the original post. That's the beauty of archeology, dicoveries are made and theories change. Got to say though I bet you this goes no further than these forums, it will soon be buried (if not litterally) along with all the other discoveries made.

Not buried. Carefully catalogued in the Cairo Museum basement. Under Zahi's watchful eyes.
I've never seen the basement. But i got friends who did. And they say it is "something outside of this world" as well.
But not literally.

Very well. Please show me a wall drawing from ancient egypt depicting a daily-life scene with a full frontal face.
I would really like to see it. Out of curiosity.
Thank you.

Wow....very hard to find. Pretty much all of the full face depictions are statues or a type of "carving" This is the best I could do so far...so I guess I was wrong...and yup, you appear to be correct (head down). Thanks for pointing that out.

Just doing a bit of searching and came across some more illustrations, carvings. This one has me wandering why the ancient Egyptians chose to use full frontal for their Hieroglyphs and not for their tomb paintings.
I believe this one is from the tomb of Qar and is 5th dynasty.

Would be interested to know the answer.
