Mohamed Morsi during Elections Campaign: Jihad Is Our Path, Death for the Sake of Allah Is Our Most Lofty Aspiration, the Shari'a Is Our Constitution

Following are excerpts from a speech delivered by then Egyptian presidential candidate Mohamed Morsi, which aired on Misr 25 TV, and was posted on Youtube, on May 13, 2012.

Mohamed Morsi: [in the 1920’s, the Egyptians] said: “The constitution is our Koran.” They wanted to show that the constitution is a great thing. But Imam [Hassan] Al-Banna, Allah’s mercy upon him, said to them: “No, the Koran is our constitution.”

The Koran was and will continue to be our constitution.

The Koran will continue to be our constitution.

Mohamed Morsi: The Koran is our constitution.

Crowds: The Koran is our constitution.

Mohamed Morsi: The Prophet Muhammad is our leader.

Crowds: The Prophet Muhammad is our leader.

Mohamed Morsi: Jihad is our path.

Crowds: Jihad is our path.

Mohamed Morsi: And death for the sake of Allah is our most lofty aspiration.

Crowds: And death for the sake of Allah is our most lofty aspiration.

Mohamed Morsi: Above all – Allah is our goal.

[…]

The shari’a, then the shari’a, and finally, the shari’a. This nation will enjoy blessing and revival only through the Islamic shari’a. I take an oath before Allah and before you all that regardless of the actual text [of the constitution]… Allah willing, the text will truly reflect [the shari’a], as will be agreed upon by the Egyptian people, by the Islamic scholars, and by legal and constitutional experts…

Rejoice and rest assured that this people will not accept a text that does not reflect the true meaning of the Islamic shari’a as a text to be implemented and as a platform. The people will not agree to anything else.

And so another country becomes a theocracy.

Good job arab spring. I'm so glad the principles of democracy have brought you into the arms of a theocracy.

Well, if they attempt to attack Israel they'll get their asses handed to em once again and they'll get their lofty goals of death

Eh, depends on where you ask someone in the states, you will get a similar reply. The bible is our constitution, OR they will make the argument this is a christian nation, founded by Christians..
just a prez ago, you had god advising about the direction of war efforts. GW Bush?

Yeah sad circumstances that in the year 2012, such theocratic markers denote the attitude of the populaces.

There is a big difference between the country being founded on Christian values and saying the bible is the country's constitution. The two aren't even remotely similar. I personally have never heard anyone say or even suggest the bible is our constitution. And I seriously doubt you have either.

If i had not personally heard it, I would not have wrote it. As a tax man who had to go door to door, over the course of nine years I have met quite a few... Interesting people to say the least, and have had some interesting conversations. Either way, You are not my qualifier, nor a backstop to personal experience.

I also sited one example already in George Walker Texas Ranger Bush.

You may be a christian, and that is fine. It does not change the nature of my comment/opinion. :D

Then I stand corrected, if you heard it - you heard it. Then again you're bound to find any kind of cooky opinion if you run into enough people. So maybe I should of said you won't find any legitimate leader of the US or a mass gathering of people saying it. It's definitely a fringe thought.

Till someone gets mad, then it's all Old testament time...

I disagree. It's not until anything. The country being founded on Christian beliefs is wildly different than saying the bible is the constitution.

Said it a year ago, while pointing out the dirty dealings of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt's parliament back in December, 2010- before the revolution even happened.

I am pleased I talked my mum out of going there. Her big mouth, and their Koran, is not a match made in heaven.
