A train with 60 carriages full of ethanol has derailed in Illinois, causing a huge explosion and fire.
Around ten carriages of the 126-car train caught alight when it came off the rails in the town of Tiskilwa on Friday morning.
Officials were concerned the fire could either spread or the liquid vapour could explode and evacuated the surrounding residents.
The fire was still burning at 6.30am local time, more than three hours after the initial incident.
Witnesses reported hearing blasts coming from the accident scene, and the glow from the fire could be seen from miles away.
Amanda Knight told the Chicago Sun-Times that the train derailed about 500fT from her home.
"There's a lot of fire and big flames," she said, adding that the explosions sounded like a "jet coming over the town".
There were no reports of any injuries after the incident.
Evacuees were sent to a temporary shelter at a nearby school.
Tiskilwa is home to around 800 people and is eight miles south of Princeton.
