Please do yourself a favour, read the entire article and save it.Essential info.

Contact your Environment, Public Health and Food Safety MEP here and tell them to support the amendment (Article 8(7)) of the Novel Food Regulation which will make it compulsory to label all food products derived from animals fed genetically modified feed.

Many commentators are using this inflated claim to justify the need for more intensive agricultural practices and, in particular, the need for further expansion of GM crops.

I get what you are saying but organic is completely affordable if you cut out all the freakin JUNK,do you think i always ate organic?..i personally don't think i am part of a dying breed, far from it,i am part of an ever expanding organic movement,it's time to get on board and make an effort.Having a defeatist attitude is what 'they' want..'ooh i can't afford all that lovely organic produce,i am a slave afterall...and all that'....HELL NO....i mean the agenda is plain too see from the small example you have given with your work situation, affordability issues etc...between you and me m8 i'd pay the extra and buy the organic blueberries EVERY TIME!!...since i switched to eating 100% organic i've actually saved money as i have no junk food like cakes and crisps in my cupboards, this is how it works,on step and a time, you start to feel great gradually too which gives you the strength to do other things, like plant your own veg etc and alas spread the word...organic is good! :flop:

Reply from MEP.

Thank you for your email. As my colleague Linda McAvan represents Yorkshire and the Humber, she has passed me your email for response as one of your two Labour MEPs from Scotland.

Further to my email to you yesterday regarding GM crop approval, I can assure you that I share your concerns over the labelling of food products derived from animals fed GM feed. The amendment you refer to on labelling in the Novel Food Regulation was already accepted by a majority of MEPs during the first reading last year and I and my Labour Party colleagues will be supporting this amendment once again in the European Parliament's second reading which is scheduled for July.

You many also be interested to know that the European Parliament is also considering a revision to the general labelling rules for food products in the form of a regulation on food information to consumers. A similar amendment has also been proposed and again, this is something which I will be supporting.

Thank you again for writing on this issue.

Best wishes,

David

Latest insanity from the U.S FDA

US position could pose problems for GM-free labeling
http://www.foodqualitynews.com/Publicat ... er%2BDaily :rtft:

But the United States’ position, drafted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA), opposes this, stating that Codex should not “suggest or imply that GM/GE foods are in any way different from other foods” by allowing countries the option of mandatory labeling.

Yes folks you read that right!...genetically engineered foods that have never existed on planet Earth are no different from say the stuff that has, which would be organic.... :help:

UKIP response: :flop:

Paul Nuttall M.E.P. supports your campaign over the labelling of food.

The EU is a distant and bureaucratic political body, which makes over 75% of the laws for our country.

These laws are made in secret by unelected EU civil servants and MEPs can only suggest amendments once these laws are revealed to the EU Parliament.

If elected, UKIP would withdraw from the EU and resume making laws and policies in our own democratically elected Parliament, to reflect the wishes of our citizens.

The correct labelling of products to describe the contents and its source plays a large part in enabling consumers to make an informed choice on the food they buy.

UKIP would redraft such laws and make sure the wishes of our citizens regarding food sourcing are reflected in our own legislation.
