Explosion At Yongbyon Nuclear Reactor

South Korean shares have fluctuated on rumors of an explosion at the Yongbyon nuclear site in North Korea.



The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) on Friday fell 20-point-six points, or one-point-11 percent, to finish at one-thousand-843-point-14.

The index plunged to one-thousand-824 at one point around 2 p.m. when the rumors spread, but it recovered before the end of the session.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ dropped three-point-02 points to close at 518-point-94.

On the Seoul foreign exchange market, the local currency plunged ten-point-two won against the U.S. dollar to finish at one-thousand-162-point-nine won against the greenback.
