Sounds like a horribly made cover story though. Really...after all the years since a bomb would have been dropped there no one in that heavily visited area would have come across it before? Then we are to believe that these people are so backwards that they play wackamole with bright shiny things that stick out of the ground?

Having been to Egypt and met the beduins, them hitting it is more than possible. Remember they set fire to the library of ancient texts that were found last century, to keep warm. There are many uneducated people in Egypt. In fact, as you ride up to the pyramids like I did on horseback, as they ride by you on their camels, its like going back in time. It reminded me of Lawrence of Arabia. Enchanting.

I'm guessing translations yet still got screwed somewhere. All I can imagine is a cartoon version of Egyptian peddlers pointing at a glint of light in sand and running over to whack it with metal poles in a very robotic manner.

I'm guessing they just poked it with sticks in reality.
