well here goes..

I am British Born, my name is welsh, I lived in Scotland for the 1st 10 years of my life but was born in England...lol
My parents are both British and so are my Grandparents except for 1 who is Mauritian, My maternal Grandfather was a Ukrainian Jew who arived in Yorkshire back in 1917,my Paternal Grandparents are Roman Catholic, I have traces of German /French and South African, rellies In Holland, Canada . My Wife is Australian , as I am now, and she is of Egyptian heritage , but! they are coptic christians, as they are Origionally from Corfu many genereations ago,( basically Greek) Her rellies are from Syria and Lebanon and Jordon, ...

So you can now imagine what my 2 week old daughter is going to be like genetically.

A true child of this world, a child without borders, and with tollerance for all creeds and faiths.

The best thing many of you could do here (especially the topic starter) would be to take a night course in Anthropology. This will be a real eyeopener for you when you realize that the very notion of "Race" is in fact a misnomer. There is such an infinitesimally small genetic variance between you and a black man that it doesn't officially register in any meaningful way.

In other words; there's no such thing as "race". Cultural differences? Yes. An adaptation and change in skin pigmentation as an environmental adaptation to changing UV indexes near the equator? Yes . Variations in feature shapes based on family lineage? Yes. A massive genetic variance or internal, structural changes that would make the "white race" a distinct and unique race of its own....NO!!!

There's so much ignorance in this thread that it's taking everything I have not to really tear into you guys. GO TO SCHOOL and for God's sake PLEASE stop watching Fox News! :bang;

I find racism....quite a confusing topic, what contstitutes racism, its just what someone finds offensive, Zenophobia is more a realistic term to use, as I am sorry to say that just about everybody I have seen heard watched spoken too is racist some of the time, even if they were not meaning to do it intentionally, how many of you used to laugh at the old Peter Sellers movies, when he would do his Indian accent, and laugh out loud. Can you do that on TV now with out someone saying you are racist.

I think we can all laugh at ourselves if the joke is funny and not aimed at hurting someone.
If we have stereotypes in our cultures, and you do this, then you can hardly blame them for having a crack.

I live in a multicultural country, Melbourne has just about every nationality you can think of, problem is that the refugees, move here for a better life, but still maintain old grudges and values, dont want to learn how to speak English, Dont mix with other races, and live in settlements, for eg, All the Jewish people, Live in the South East, The Lebanese/Greek/Sudanese in the west, The Anglo/Aussies South East& East, The Chineseand Indian CBD East. There is no integration.

The stereotypes from their homelands begin all over again..

Its a shame...The 2 generations of Italian $ Lebanese populations to which there are a lot, talk about Anglo/Aussies , as AUSSIES and dont class themselves as such, they are Greek or Italian, etc..
