WITH almost 700 million users, Facebook looks like the great success story of the social media revolution.

But while 350million members - half the total number of account holders - log on every day, there are signs that users are beginning to "defriend" the site.

A report called Inside Facebook reveals that while membership continues to grow worldwide (the total of 698million users in April 2011 was up five million from the previous month), "overall growth is lower than normal for the second month straight".

During a typical month in the last year, 20million new users were creating Facebook accounts.

But in April, this figure dropped to 13.9million and the following month, the number of new sign-ups fell to 11.8million.

And a large number of users are cancelling their accounts by deleting their profile.

In the UK - where half the 60million population have a Facebook account - more than 100,000 users have quit.

And in the US, almost six million have given up, with the total falling from 155.2million to 149.4million in recent weeks.

Facebook Google Gmail and im sure many other programs of this ilk are integrated, its a tool used to gather information and get a psychological profile of its users. Google boasts that it can predict what you are going to search about 90% of the time and can predict your future searches as well. I have read that facebook is a CIA front and if you think about it your whole life is on that stupid site your friends, activities, pictures that a geolocated by the way when you post them from a smart phone. It's all being stored and the analyzed. I know for FACT google is NSA software don't believe me search google and NSA I promise you will be amazed. The is so much going on most people are just going though life asleep, watching tv doped up on a combination of the drinking water, depression pills, alcohol or weed then escaping into 2nd life or WOW. They know more about the stupid housewives or dancing with the stars or what their teams record is, or where the best gear drops than any important issue. What were heading into is just the tip of the iceberg. My advise wake up get off that site get yourself in shape physically and mentally and start to wake others up. Even if they think your crazy. Don't let opinions from others bother you tell them like it is sooner or later they will feel that kick in the ass and then they will think of you. Do your research educate yourself and stand your ground. RtTiOtG

A lot of it is political. Some Neo-Cons see Zuckerberg hanging out with Obama and close their accounts out of not wanting to support Liberals. It is a good thing really, less idiocy there.
