Two schools are being evacuated while the Williamson County Sheriff's Office investigates a threat made to Deerpark Middle School and the Round Rock Independent School District.

Both Deerpark Middle School and nearby Live Oak Elementary School began evacuating at 12:30 p.m. due to a threat made to the middle school Monday night. KVUE's news partner, the Austin American-Statesman reports the threat came from a Facebook conversation between several students and a man. At least one of the students attends Deerpark.

Officials say it is unclear what connection, if any, the man has to the school.

The student's family alerted the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, which then alerted RRISD. After a walk-through was completed Tuesday morning at the threatened school, it was determined classes would be held as normal.

However, upon further investigation, the Sheriff's Office decided there might be more to the threat. It was then decided the schools should evacuate.

Deerpark students were taken to the McNeil High School Gym, 5720 McNeil Rd., and Live Oak Elementary students were taken to the RRISD Performing Arts Center, 5800 McNeil Rd.

Students will be kept at the above locations until the normal release time. Buses will run as usual. Students who normally walk home will be bussed to a location closer to their campus to walk home from there.

Parents will be allowed to pick up their children from the holding locations starting at 1:30 p.m.

About 1,000 students attend Deerpark Middle School, and 600 attend Live Oak Elementary.
