Tom Clancy sits around all day and thinks up crisis scenarios for the books and games with his name on them. Conflict with the two was possible for any number of reasons, plus the guy's got an eye for looking at the world through his military-industrial complex lens - it's how he's been paying his bills for the last thirty years.

I stopped playing shooters for just this reason. Video games have turned into war propaganda of the most low-brow calibre. They glorify violence, nationalism and unquestioning obedience, and they do so very crudely.

People can make and play violent, fucked up games if they so chose, I'm not about to argue that. But I think it's a huge problem that kids are getting exposed to this nonsense.
