Farmer Loses Battle To Save Secret Castle
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100203/tod ... 0a197.html :rtft:

A farmer who secretly built a castle and hid it behind straw bales for four years while he lived in it has lost a court battle to stop it being demolished.

He removed the camouflage in 2006, hoping to exploit planning legislation that states that if a property has been complete for four years then it is immune from planning enforcement.

But Reigate & Banstead Borough Council said the removal of the tarpaulin formed part of the building operation and issued an order to demolish it. (What a complete shower of shit this council mob is)

i agree and disagree.

i dip my hat to him for trying, but i am currently studying construction at college and there is a larger problem, that if he did not get all the foundations right and the building of it right then it does poss as a health and safety risk if he then sells the house and it falls down killing the new owners then he is responsible. also if everyone started to do this there would be unsafe housing all over the place. the relulations are in place for a reason. But building a house is not a fast opperation unless you have a team a people in to build it, the farmer did it on his own it there for must have taken some time to build and therefore the local residents could not have noticed what is going on and they did not mind the huge hay stack in the field. they are only bitchin now he has a house there. i think planning rules need to be made a little more easier to build on your land if it is only 1 house. there was a case that i think is worse than this one, a carpenter in Bristol UK build a tree house for is kids and a planning officer drove past his house and saw it investiged it and it was just over the 11% you are allowed to build on your property without planning and he made his dismantale his kids tree house that is a piss take in my book it is a bloody treehouse

Thanks for the input m8 :flop: .Allow me to disagree with your points above if you will. What if and i'm guessing this IS TRUE the builiding was erected perfectly, very safely? There was no mention of building safety as the reason being for it's what's now looking like it's possible removal.I'm sure to undertake a project like this and HOUSE YOUR FAMILY in it you would be damned sure to built it right eh.With regards to regulations, well yes they are in place for a reason,so that the slaves can be taught they have no right to build their own castles on their own land, the regulation you think is for our own good is total hogwash.I'm sure even i if i were to survey Buckinham Palace or the white house i could find safety flaws with that,so if so,OK it has to be teared down?...right?...I totally disagree with this whole matter in principle and the priciple that FREE WILL is again being quashed,if you wanna build a castle...why not?..go for it it's your life..if you then wanna sell it on to whoever then you have to take responsibility for your own actions not let big daddy government think they have to do it for you all the time eh!!..Which is exactly what this is all about,we are treated like children and people sadly enough enjoy this...not me.

I'm really fucking mad,what a beautiful castle.

There goes my secret plan to just buy some land and build my own house on it! As for health and safety, well maybe, just maybe, people can be responsible for themselves, if I was building my own house I would damn sure I made a good job of it, especially if my family are going to be living there, the threat of possible danger to my kids would certainly spur me on to double check those foundations!

His land he can do what he wants and its his responsibility if he fucks it up I say! Im sure I could find lots of reasons to go with the planning permission thing, but my instincts tell me this is all wrong!!

The problem is simple!

He voluntarily registered his property with the Counsil, and thereby signing over the rights to the state.

The solution is as simple, do not register your property to others, they will now have the right to decide what will happen to your ex.property.

Do not register your children, your Car, yourself, unless you want others to manage your affairs, it's that simple!
At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love. It is impossible to think of a genuine revolutionary lacking this quality.

Hey Snake sounds similar to what i just said  ,that's why i have a problem with this.I'm sure the best built building in the world has safety flaws. So therefore knock it down..i think there is more going on here, they like to send signals to the slaves that you have no free will. You do what you are told or we give you a proper spanking...i can't believe people co-operate with this insanity.Fuck em.

perhaps but the same could be said for coral castle . it was built by one man .. and as far as i gather he didnt have the technical know how either so i think they are just pissed that one man could build this when they spend billions getting teams to even pave a new road i do agree although about the dager to people but then again it would only take a inspector to come around and give him the neccessary information to bring it up to code . if in fact it was meant to be a hospitable place to live or a tourist attraction that is the question ..i commend him for his undertaking . what pisses me off is that people in positions of power don't recognize the value of his skills just that he did something illegal apperantly

The guy should have just kept his mouth shut...left up the hay bails. He was counting on the law to back him up...he thought he found a "loop hole"....well that loop hole snapped shut around his neck as soon as he put his head through it. They can change the laws however they see fit....and nothing gets their goat worse than someone pulling one over on them. They don't see it as a man taking charge of his property and life...they see it as "look..we have a rogue in our midst!....how insulting!"....so now they're going to change or amend the law to suit THEIR needs, no mater how petty.

Perhaps the guy should have built his castle a bit further out in the boonies.....in the middle of a forest ect....where there is nobody around to complain about it
Take it easy...and if its easy...take it twice!!
