On a side note about foreign and third world folk music. I stumbled across a performing group here in the US from Ecuador and was amazed at both the complexity and simplicity of their historic folk music.

In ways I can't describe, there are elements of Irish folk music in it. Yet these works were written thousands of years before western civilization ever knew the west was here (that we know of).

I suppose that goes a long way to say there is more we all have in common than not.
