I am awake, and my home has been running like this for decades now. Unfortunately my states electric co changed it's policy about reimbursing me for the extra power I sent back into the grid, asholes.

This mans biggest mistake is that he lives in the sticks and some waco type situation could happen to him. I live right in the city which has it's drawbacks in the sense that if I don't have elevtric running to my home they can condem it until I do,so technically I'm still connected to the grid but I don't use it,even though it's still nice to have in case I have technical issues, and for once a year when I have to shut down my whole system and give it a check up.

He is right about the batteries being very expensive, especially when you need over 100 of them to make sure you have enough power for weeks in an emergency, but car batteries have a much longer life span than 5 years with regular maintenance ,usual just top them off with some more acid or water.

as for his tanks that is extremely dangerous and unnecessary.
I don't have a single tank like that,I do use old propane tanks like you would use for your bbq grill, but that is for my small engines like on my go-karts and stuff.it's just easier to modify the carbs to use hho than it is to get all the electrical and joecell stuff on something so small.

My riding mower does have a full electrolyzer setup and so do my trucks. so did my motorcycles back in the days when I was brave/foolish enough to ride them.

See that is all very interesting and I would like to better undertstand the cost and steps to create such a thing. Looking at the system in the video makes sense at 30,000 feet but highly technical at the nuts and bolts level. Is there an easy way to do this that is cost efective and if so where does one start?

I was wondering the same thing. Further research showed that it cost him $500,000 to build, and after grants and donations, his cost was 100,000, excluding systems for cars and appliances.

noetic I was wondering how much your system cost, and how you went about putting it together.

here are some links that I have but I'm sure if you look around you can find better sites, but these will get you started.and really this is not very hard to do,I have no formal education in science and engineering,it's just a hobby for me

you see this stuff has been around for a long time.

here are some keywords and names to search for while you're at it.

john kanzius
stan meyers
equinox it runs on water
hydroxy
hho
joe cell
browns gas
steorn

here is a great site for beginners of electrical engineering, you will really only need a basic understanding of EE to do what you have to do for this project

http://www.alternatezone.com/eevblog/

I also highly recommend you read the book "electronics for dummies",no offense but it is a great place to begin and it's a quick read.

also this project isn't very expensive if you cut some corners here and there by using found items, you will need stainless steel, lots of it.I build joe cells using kitchen sinks,if you get a double sink you can cut it in half and out it together and fill it with stainless steel plates for electrolysis surface.be sure nothing is touching/shorting out.

you will also need a bit of plumbing know how,and some air compressor parts, namely the pressure regulators and vapor cathcers.

but everything you will need to buy for this project can be found at the radio shack, the home depot and of course your friendly neighborhood hardware store. have fun and be safe, this can be very very dangerous,so I recommend you start small with something under 1 gallon, the best thing to do there is use stainless steel bowls and stuff until you learned the ropes then go ahead and scale it upto your requirements.

the average 8 cylinder engine will require a joecell like the sink thing I mentioned in order to completely remove the need for gasoline.

you can optimize your joecells performance with a signal generator ,which is basically the the electronics from an electric keyboard synthesizer (piano) running through a car audio amplifier, just tune it in until you get the best output. this can all be powered with the power running to the cars in tank fuel pump.

1 more thing, the joecell breaks down the water and it bubbles up,but if you notice the bubbles come from the edges of the metal plates,so the best thing to do is to drill the hell out of you plates or tubes, whatever you build anyway,or get some kind of pieces of stainless steel sheets that already have perforations for maximum output, but for crying out loud USE A PRESSURE CUT OFF SWITCH FROM AN AIR COMPRESSOR!!! to regulate it all.they are tunable so you can set it to whatever your cars fuel system requires, just be sure that your electrolyser is built to handle several times more pressure than you need, and use at least two vapor catchers to prevent rust inside your engine from the mist.

SAFETY FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!

btw nasa has been using this stuff forever, after you've learned your way around this go look for schematics of the space shuttles booster rockets, this stuff has been used in missiles and rockets since before the V-2.

ps I probably have about 20,000 into all of my stuff, only because I was naive and bought a bunch of overpriced solar panels years ago.and almost half of that is in boat batteries, they were leak proof long before car batteries were.but if you salvage and do this smart you can take your house of the grid for less than 5k,and your car can be off of gasoline for less than 1k.

I almost for got to mention I cook and heat my home with this system also,no modifications are necessary to your stove or furnace to run this, you just have to adjust the air valve by the burners, you almost close them because you are getting plenty of O2 from the joecell.and if you but two gas powered generators, one for backup, you can do away with the solar panels altogether, but there is much more maintenance required for that but if you are already a motor head it's no biggy, and if the negine blows up it only costs less than 200 for a new one,but shop around, because most generators use small engines with odd crank shafts specifically made to go itno the the genereator coil,be sure to get a side by side style generator so you can replace the engine with any gas utility engine, and for fucks sake stay away from tecumseh engines, they are total shit,BRIGGS&STRATTON is the best,or honda of course, but they're more expensive.

you will need to add some more mufflers and bafflers to the generators so they don't annoy the piss out of you and your neighbors,I usually add moped exhausts pipes, they are cheap and very quiet, especially if you use 2 of them, you won't even know it's running.

I'm bumping this because I don't want all that damn typing I did to get buried and go to waste.I want to keep this alive for awhile so that more people can see it.

thanks for the thread dude, all i need now is a house to do this stuff to.lol.

all this stuff interests the freak outta me, just wish i had more know how!!

can i get peoples opinions on something please.

what do you think about the circuit in the vid? i thought it a bit off they didn't show you properly the whole wire they used to connect the phone with!

what do you think of this, too good to be true?- http://www.teslasecret.com/?hop=dec212012

Thanks noetic I'll definitely look in to some of these things. I've had an interest in solar for a while, but hydrogen adds a whole new dimension to it. I'd love to see more of these threads. It's good to see some answers to the worlds problems for a change.

Im pretty sure the tanks he uses have a weak spot so if they blow they just split open rather than explode. I didnt see anything he uses to be more dengerous than the systems we use now.
