For nearly a week, Brandon Raub, a former marine, found himself incarcerated against his will in a psychiatric facility for posting political opinions and song lyrics on Facebook. When the government can incarcerate American citizens for merely exercising their First Amendment rights, argues John Whitehead in this week's vodcast, then we are truly living in frightening times.

Ten years ago, Steven Spielberg's blockbuster film Minority Report unveiled a chilling vision of futuristic law enforcement. But was it only fiction? In this week's vodcast, John Whitehead examines new, sci-fi like technologies now in the hands of an increasingly invasive government.

...just listened to this....spot on as usual......
Published on Oct 16, 2012 by RutherfordInstitute
Turn on the TV or flip open the newspaper on any given day, and you will find yourself accosted by reports of government corruption, corporate malfeasance, militarized police and marauding SWAT teams. Yet even more dangerous than these violations of our basic rights is the language they are couched in—the language of fear. And, as John Whitehead says in this week's vodcast, the only thing which will improve our present condition is the taming of our fear.

............no difference...

Published on Nov 20, 2012 by RutherfordInstitute
On almost every front—fiscally, militarily, politically, socially—the country is in a state of disarray. In the wake of President Obama's re-election, Americans are wondering what the future holds. In this week's vodcast, John Whitehead reviews Obama's civil liberties track record and foresees a potentially dismal outcome.

....you mean we've got a fourth ammendment...?
Published on Jan 24, 2013
The Fourth Amendment was intended to protect the citizenry—both our property and our bodies—from "unreasonable searches and seizures" by government agents. Unfortunately, as John Whitehead reveals in this week's vodcast, the rights supposedly guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution have been steadily eroded over the past few decades, leaving Americans literally stranded on the side of the road, grasping for dignity.

AMENDMENT IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

John W. Whitehead
Pressure Points: Maryland vs. King
Published on Jun 17, 2013
In conjunction with the upcoming release of his new book, A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State, John W. Whitehead sits down to discuss several "pressure points" that are threatening the Bill of Rights and undermining our essential freedoms. In part six of this special series, Whitehead examines the U.S. Supreme Court's devastating decision in Maryland v. King—in which a divided Court determined that a person arrested for a crime who is supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty must submit to forcible extraction of their DNA.
