TOKYO — Dozens of protesters shouted and danced at the gate of a nuclear power plant as it restarted Sunday, the first to go back online since Japan shut down all of its reactors for safety checks following the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Crowds of tens of thousands of people have gathered on Friday evenings around Noda's official residence, chanting, "Saikado hantai," or "No to nuclear restarts." Protests drawing such numbers are extremely rare in this nation, often known for orderly conformity. A demonstration in Tokyo protesting the restart and demanding Noda resign was planned in a major park Sunday.

Fukushima kids cop 'lifetime' radiation dose.

A Japanese study has found some children who live near the Fukushima nuclear plant have received "lifetime" doses of radiation to their thyroid glands.

A team from Japan's Institute of Radiological Sciences used government data to measure the internal radiation exposure of more than 1,000 Fukushima children.

The Fukushima nuclear power plant emitted radiation after being crippled by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

Despite the government announcing more than half of the children had zero exposure, the independent study found that on average they did receive thyroid gland doses of internal radiation.

Several children were judged to have received an equivalent lifetime dose to the thyroid.

But the government says it does not plan to notify the parents out of fear of creating anxiety.

A documentary on More 4 TV in the UK has just started, it's about the science of the earthquake. The presenter started by saying that the earthquake was so strong that it knocked the Earth off it's axis. Is this why we are getting strange weather everywhere?
Sorry, bit off topic, but I hadn't heard that before.

yes
...that has been floated around....though any signs of an axis shift should be showing up where the sun or moon touches down on the horizon...and i haven't heard alot with respect to the setting sun/moon being in the wrong place..
