For all those lovers of this fantastic saga, I thought that I would start a thread based on the books and TV series.

I have a few excellent links here if anyone wants to get to grips with the in-depth context of this fantasy realm:

http://gameofthrones.net/houses-of-westeros.html
(I noticed I have the same surname as one of the minor houses :D )

The background information that George Martin has brought to his works is truly remarkable. Only the world of Tolkien - which I feel has had a big impression in Martin's writing's - surpass the sheer grandiose nature of this epic master piece. No stone has been left unturned.

I can't wait for his new instalment. I have read some of the preview chapters on Martin's website, and it seems that we will get to find out more about 'the others' and their intentions.
