Pretty sad, but not unheard of. Where I used to live, we couldn't have satelite dishes that could be seen from drivers by, no clotheslines for the same reason. We couldn't wash our cars in our driveways, because the suds that filtered down to the road were not aesthetically pleasing and if our grass was over 5 inches high, we would get a notice to cut it or be fined.
Oh yeah, and all our houses had to be the same colour.

youre in canada iirc? they recently passed a city ord in Toronto saying you can only have 2 vehicles in your driveway or upto $5000 dollar fine - even million+ dollar homes with 6 car driveways..
