Putin is flexing his muscles, again...

Ex-world chess champion Garry Kasparov was among several people arrested outside the court in Moscow, where three members of Pussy Riot punk band were found guilty of hooliganism.

As Mr Kasparov was dragged to a nearby police van he demanded to know why he was being arrested.

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Marina Alyokhina, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, stormed the altar of a cathedral in February and sang a "punk prayer" urging the Virgin Mary to rid Russia of President Vladimir Putin.

Three members of Russian punk band Pussy Riot have been jailed for two years after staging an anti-Vladimir Putin protest in a Moscow cathedral.

Judge Marina Syrova convicted the women of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred, saying they had "crudely undermined social order".

The women say the protest, in February, was directed at the Russian Orthodox Church leader's support for Mr Putin.

The US, UK and EU all criticised the sentences as "disproportionate".

Prosecutors had been seeking a three-year jail sentence for the women.

Judge Syrova said Maria Alyokhina, 24, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 29, had offended the feelings of Orthodox believers and shown a "complete lack of respect".

"Tolokonnikova, Alyokhina and Samutsevich committed hooliganism - in other words, a grave violation of public order," she said.

These different performance artists must respect the venues of the others. You don't see orthodox priests going and disrupting punk concerts, right ?

Are priests in Russia performing impromptu ceremonies at punk venues ? If so it is being suppressed in Russian media ?

Conspiracy.

Lol, that's a good point :flop:

Still, Orthodox priests have a different hobby nowadays, they beat the shit out of junkies, all in the name of God :

Just because there is no iron curtain does not mean Russia is any better now then it was 30 years ago.

Arresting Kasparov, for what? speaking his mind.
Everywhere I look I see the same :bullshit:

A little update :

Police said Kasparov bit on the finger one of several officers dragging him away from a Moscow court where three Pussy Riot members were convicted on Friday over an anti-Kremlin “punk prayer” at an Orthodox Christian cathedral.

The accusation can land him in jail for five years on charges of attacking a police officer on duty, RBC Daily news Web site said.

Now this is great :

Kasparov also denied biting anyone and said the officer in question, Denis Ratnikov, could have run afoul of a police dog.

A police spokesman said the force was willing to conduct an examination to compare Kasparov’s bite to that of their service dogs.

I'm afraid what most of the russians don't know what "Pussy Riot" means - "Бунт Пизды" - really, really dirty.

Gary Kasparov like most great chess players are some of the greatest minds of our time.

There is no doubt, he is 20 moves ahead of his captors.

The United States tried for years to catch Bobby Fisher, and they failed.
