way back in 1983, my wife and i and our then todddler daughter , laura, moved into a bigger house, it was a pre war bay fronted semi, seemed nice and big, with large gardens, all neat and tidy, it was owned by an old woman who was downsizing, she was late 70s, a spinster, had lived there with her infirm sister who had just died, we were told she had been ill for some time, and in fact died in hospital, that seemed to satisfythe wife, who promptly fell in love with the place, she was a vary crusty, the old lady didn,t seem to have much of a soft side, was vary headmistressy if you know what i mean, she told us certain things were for sale, indeed we bought several items including a superb set of georgian drawers, and an old painting which i still have of a young couple leaving church, dressed in early victorian garb, wich i,m looking at now, a few weeks after we moved in, on a friday night we went to bed around 10.30, there was only 3 carpets in the house, one in the lounge, one in our bedroom, and a stair one , that went in the middle of the stairs, we were in bed ten mins , we were not asleep, when a loud noise came from the front bedroom, which was empty, cept for several black bags of stuff, and a couple of boxes, then the bedroom door opened, with a loud creak, heavy footfallsfrom there to the bathroom, more noise, then aloud creak, door open, footfalls back, wife says whats that, i thought burglars,, iwas scared but as our daughter was in the smaller box room, i jumped up and ran into the . big empty bedroom, no one was there, but we had both clearly heard, with our own ears someone moving about, we never had another strange occurance, anyone venture to suggest, what it was, it seemed to me, as if someone had got up in the night, gone to the bathroom, as you do when your older, then went back to bed, either events which had happened years in the past replayed themselves, or ghosts need the toilet.

I think that the apparition you heard was someone who lived there earlier than the old lady.I may be wrong but ive had a similar apparition in my home.You just have to deal with it.Next time just think happy thoughts or something
