Nov. 7, 2010 -- A massive statue of a crowned Jesus Christ with outstretched arms has risen in a small Polish town and a local priest claims it is now the world's tallest.

Rev. Sylwester Zawadzki, the 78-year-old priest who created the statue told the Associated Press, the statue, called "Christ the King," rises 108 feet, or 33 meters -- one meter for every year that Jesus lived. Construction workers offered different figures for the statue's size. Nonetheless the work certainly rivals Rio de Janiero's towering "Christ the Redeemer," which stands 125 feet tall.

Well, nothing much has changed in 2000 years - humans still raising idols to their 'God's - how long before this one becomes a 'wonder of the ancient world of past religion'?

When the one above was build with religious passion and devotion - it too was the the 'true' God.

I personally think that this stature is not an Idol but a symbol of hope in a dark world.

It is not possible to build a Idol(physical object of adoration) to the Absolute as The Absolute is the creator of all possible manifestations and beings.Therefore what possible shape could represent the Creator of all possible shapes,beings and Forums for being in Totality?

Huge Jesus statue explodes, insurance company calls it act of God

Monroe - A monumental statue of Jesus exploded and burned down in Ohio. The statue which has been called everything from the "King of Kings" to "King Kong," burned after being struck by lightning. Insurance companies are calling it an act of God.
The Solid Rock Church in Monroe (Ohio) is known for its 62-foot tall statue of Jesus, built in 2004.
The statue burned to the ground after being struck by lightning on June 14. The sight was widely visible along Interstate 75 and was captured in photographs and on video.
The damage, including the destroyed statue and the nearby amphitheater, is estimated at $700,000.
According to the BBC, insurance companies are calling it an act of God in order to avoid paying to replace it.
